Well I had a really good day yesterday at th convention, nearly stayed over night but decided to commute the 4 hours there and 4 hours back in just the one day.

Found some interesting items of advertising Ogdens as well as about 20 missing cards and a few up grades, certainly glad I went.

The only reason I did not stay was that from 6 closing of the hall it can get boring until the next morning, perhaps if a communal meet that was informally arranged, would add to the attraction.

I would like to see what people are collecting and what they have purchased as well as showing off my purchases.

Ogdens miniature playing cards, there are, 779 Actresses & Beauties so far recorded and likely more, I have now with my six further cards 708, 71 missing and a few to upgrade but did also upgrade another 10 so looking good.

Two Woodburytype Actresses, 1 Colotype Actresses and two CHOAB beauties.

Sam pointed me first thing to one particular stall had he was right both some nice examples of Ogden's commercial advertising, including a draughts set and board, a few packets and a dish.

Also which was a very pleasant surprise an uncut TAB sheet of Series 'D'. There were also a few other bits and pieces from other stalls also found a another half uncut sheet.

Altogether very successful, those that did not attend missed out, and my thanks go o those who organised the event.

Couldn't go because of family commitments-can someone put some pictures on please and are there any whispers where next years will be held?
I vote for 2 per year-what do others think??

I had a good two days - granted I only finished 2 (more common!) sets but I did get some associated items that I am really pleased with including a silver 'Wills Castella Award' and a lovely Wills 'Pirate' advertising mirror. Among the scarcer cards I did improve a couple of CWS Parrot series which is always nice and got a Spratt's Prize Poultry card.

Met a few new people too which is always good and one of them taught me quite a bit about some Chinese cards. I bought some 'Animalloys' from him with Chinese backs that I'd never seen before.

The one card I wanted but couldn't find was Player's Birds of Brilliant Plumage (JH). I saw plenty from the set but just not the one I needed!

Next year will be in Nottingham (I don't have the exact venue details but they'll come out soon I expect)

(Attached a pic of the pirate advert mirror - the mirror is on the back - or front depending how you look at it!)

I'm glad to hear that people had a good time.  Unfortunately I couldn't make it.  Maybe next year.
