Title: Was David Bowie inspired by a simple trade card?
Post by: card renaissance on June 14, 2018, 03:35:45 PM
Cards feature many great people but can the cards themselves inspire someone to become great too? Is it possible that David Bowie was inspired by a humble ice cream trade card? How do some people see the extraordinary in the ordinary?  I've done another YouTube video on the subject:

An interesting video.  This card is certainly getting around.  Now it's even in a book about Bowie.  What a shame we can't ask the man himself any more.

Yeah, that will remain a mystery. Like with Paul McCartney and that Eleanor Rigby gravestone, he probably wouldn't have remembered it anyway. Thanks for spotting it in the first place. It is a great story.

There are many things around which make you wonder whether it was coincidence or not.  How many clues did people find that Paul McCartney was dead?  Did the Eagles steal Hotel California from Jethro Tull?  When I lived in Germany I laughed at an obituary in a Munich newspaper for Conrad Poohs.  There really was one but was he the inspiration for this?:

Yeah, Hotel California does sound a bit like Jethro Tull :D That obituary is a spooky coincidence.
