New user after some info / advice!
« on: August 13, 2014, 11:07:13 PM »
Good evening,
I acquired some cards / albums many years ago that were left for me by my Grandfather.  They have been in a box in a few different attics over the years and I decided to finally dig them out this week to have a look through them.   They are on the face of it in very good condition with most being in albums (Not glued down)
There is one album which is blue covered and has 'OGDENS NEW CENTURY' on it, this contains 200 cards which aren't numbered and have nothing on the back either, they do have text on them which matches up to what is in the album.
They're probably not of any value and very common to all you enthusiasts but just thought I'd share them and maybe you could give an idea of any values. It's very interesting going through them all whether valuable or not!
:)
I've attached a spreadsheet with them listed.

Welcome to the forum. You seem to enjoy the cards that your Grandfather left you which is always a bonus!
I'm a trade card collector so their are guys on here who will give you a far better appraisal of your collection, as indeed will the Ogdens specialists who really know their stuff.
I do think it would be relatively straight forward to complete the many part sets you own. Have you considered continuing your grandfathers work to the sets' completion? It may give you a great sense of achievement!

Thanks for your response.  I am going to start having a look into completing some of them yes as he clearly took time to put them together and it would be good to finish off his hard work.

That's a good idea. I did the same with a set from my grandparents many years ago. It is now a treasured favourite amongst my collection, not scarce, not valuable, but filled with memories.
Any questions, please ask. Theirs plenty of experience around here to help you out!

It would be good if you could complete the sets, try and find a card fair near you, you will then also see other sets that may appeal to you.

The blue album with the black and white plain back cards sound like Guinea Golds which date from 1901 isn. As you say relatively common but these are the cards I collect so if you want PM me my email is visible.
Always looking for interesting cards and associated goods issued by Ogden's you can see samples of cards I am looking for in the wants section.
Best Regards David
