Sets with more cards in them than intended
« on: January 18, 2012, 02:00:27 PM »
Football Club Colours  issued by Ogdens in 1906 is a rare example of a set with more cards in it than it should have. The number of cards in the set as indicated on the backs of the cards is 50. In actual fact there are 51 cards in this set. Shortly after the set of 50 was released an additional card (No. 51) was added to the set, depicting the captain of a South African rugby side that was touring Britain at the time. Naturally the extra card commands a higher price than the other cards in the set but is quite hard to get hold of.

This set is the only one I can think of with extra cards added. Does anyone know of any others?

Wills Locomotives and Rolling Stock has several additional subjects.  Several German sets have additional subjects such as this:
