Anyone heard of American Tobacco Company's 'Beauties in Ponds'?
« on: January 31, 2012, 12:32:07 PM »
I was reading an old book on cigarette cards and came across a reference to a set issued by the American Tobacco Company called 'Beauties in Ponds'. This was an early set, late 19th or very early 20th century, each card showing a picture of a pretty girl (clothed) sitting in a pond  ::)

I thought this was a pretty wacky idea for a set of cards. Thumbing through my copy of Murray's, though, I can't see the set listed. Plenty of 'Beauties' sets of various kinds listed under American Tobacco Company but not specifically 'Beauties in Ponds'. Is anyone familiar with this set?
