I think we would have struggled in group E never mind where we were put with and at least by the last game against Costa Rica it could be irrelevant 2 draws before that is the best we could do

I also think we'll struggle to qualify from that group.
Can't see us beating Italy or Uruguay and you just know Luis Suarez will score.
Have to agree with Mick - the last match against Costa Rica could be meaningless.

Spain/Holland/Chile group looks the toughest.
France look like they got the best draw.

I'm afraid I didn't rank Englands chances before the draw was made, now that we are in with Uruguay and Italy I think our chances are even slimmer. However I will be happy to be proved wrong, but  I think England will play a grand total of 3 games in Brazil.

Englands chances in the World cup ? Probably about as much chance as our cricketers have of retaining the ashes down under....Pretty slim by the looks of things, Be nice to see a European team win it for the first time in South America though, Germany and Spain look the most likely,

England's chances? 50/50 to get out of the group would be my estimation. Furthermore, ignore Costa Rica at our peril. They beat both the USA and Mexico in qualifying.

C'mon guys lighten up a bit , you've as much chance as the any team in the group , on a NY given day you've a 50 50 chance against the under forming Italians ...how many times do they go home early  from he WC to a splattering  of choice plum Italian toms ....and the Uruguayans ....one player doesn't make a footballing nation .
A tough but deserved draw agaist Costa Rica and 6 points from the other 2 and your through .
I agree with Wolfie ..2nd with Costa Rica top  :) :) :)

One more thought for football card collectors. This may be your only chance to get a card of shola in a international top.

Well I for one thought some of the England young or new blood (call them what you will ) performed extremely well on the world stage .
Enegetic , lively , thoughtful and inventive football played , I thought some of the older legs or should that be lags looked a little pedestrian and they were easiy outshone by younger more eager minds .
Sone must up their game and more of the same from the others .

A win was deserved , a draw would have been fine but the result is what it is .
I felt for you guys .

Not lone voice - I agree with you.
We were unlucky against Italy; if we could have just got more of our efforts on target we would have earned at least a draw.
And, having seen all the other group games so far, I am confident that we would have beaten more than half of the other teams, with the notable exceptions of Spain and the Netherlands. And of course, Brazil, who will beat everyone they play, simply because FIFA and its officials have already made that quite clear to the refs and linos!  >:(

Appreciate it's not relevant to our chances (though I did think we were unfortunate the other night) but I found this the other day and thought I would share it for those into football and the world cup. I know it has a crease on it but I think it was issued between 1960 and 1962 in Mauritius with cigarettes that bore the name 'Allan Ramsay' (BAT). It's from a set of 48 famous footballers but this is England of course and Stanley Matthews.
Always interested in buying rare bird cards
